SLJ - Bookworms! New book cover!

Hey Bloggers!

Welcome back to my blog.

This is yet another Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) post.
If you know what the Summer Learning Journey is, you may skip the next paragraph.
The Summer Learning Journey is basically a program that runs through the Summer holidays. There are a set of activities that you can complete, they earn you points alongside with comments. The person with the most points may earn some prizes!

Today's activity is...

For this activity, design a book cover for your favourite book. You will need to think about what needs to be on the cover (the title, author, illustrator), pictures, colour, etc. Please create all of the images yourself (draw or photograph) rather than using images that you find online. On your blog, share the book cover you have designed.

I have chosen my favorite book called 'Dragon Daughter' it is by Liz Flanagan.
What is your favorite book?
Here is my new book cover!
Enjoy!

  1. Hi Mia!

My name is Natasha. I'm a year 11 student at Hornby High and I'm going to be taking a look at a few of your blog posts throughout the Summer Learning Journey :)

This is an absolutely incredible book cover Mia, you have a real talent for graphic design! There is an immense amount of detail in the image you've made and it fits the title perfectly. I also like that you've written a brief description explaining both the Summer Learning Journey and the task you chose to do!

I've found that Piktochart is quite good for making these sort of things if you ever want to check it out, what did you use to make your book cover?

Awesome work once again Mia, you have a lot of talent and I look forward to seeing what else you create with it :)

    1. Hi Natasha! It's Mia here. Thanks for commenting on my blog! Yes, I have tried Piktochart before, I haven't used it in a while since I use such a variety of sites and programs but I did find it successful. I used google drawings, a find it easier to use the curve tool to create anything! Have you tried google drawings before?

      Thanks again!

    2. Hey Mia!

That's great to here! Using a wide range of sites and programs is a really good idea. Ah yes, that makes sense! the curve tool is pretty helpful. Yes, I have used Google Drawings before - quite a few times actually - but I don't think I've ever made something this advanced!

    3. Hi Natasha! Mia here again. Thanks for replying. It took a lot of practice, I have been using google drawing for about 3 or 4 years, so it's been pretty long. Me and my friends like to create pictures without using any images, we use them for inspiration, but we haven't used images in a long time! Have you seen format options before? I use it for glowing objects, reflections and blurs, it's really useful!

      Thanks again!

  2. Hello Mia, its me Parwin! I see you are also doing the SLJ, te challenge is on!

WOW! You have blown me away with your book cover! Its amazing, outstanding and unique! I love it so much! Its honestly really cool! How long did it take for you to finish that?

This reminds me of when I did this but I chose the Wish Tree. Although its not one of my favourites, I enjoyed reading it anyways! But my favorite book is probably the Liars series! Have you finished it yet?

I think that you did an amazing job! I cannot think of anything for you to improve on but if you have anything in mind that would make your blog even better, then go for it!

    Awesome work!

Looking forward to your next posts,
    Parwin

    1. Hi Parwin! It's Mia here. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog, you are so very kind! Hmm, it took me about 2 hours, I think. Ooooo! Yes, Liars! I truly love the series, although, it's a book that I wouldn't usually pick off the shelf because I enjoy reading fantasy type stories. No, I don't think I have finished yet, I think I have Armageddon to go! I'm so excited :D I really recommend Dragon Daughter, it's a fabulous book. What did you like most about the Wish Tree?

      Thanks again!
      Mia
