A visit to Akaroa

In Kauri class this week we were learning how to write good recounts. We also were learning to do sentence starters. My recount is about a visit to Akaroa, hope you enjoy my recount.

A visit to Akaroa

In the holidays on the first week I went to Akaroa with my dad, mum, Kyle and me, we went there for a visit because me and Kyle had never been there before.

First, we got ready and hopped in the car, it was a very long drive, but we managed. On the way there we stopped at some places because my mum wanted to take some photos of some great views and it was amazing. When we got there I started to wander around looking around.

Then we went down to the rocky beach, we saw crabs and seashells. Kyle was scared to walk there so my dad carried him around. I was also a little bit scared at first but after a little while I started to like it there. We went to the other side and Kyle wanted to get down so he did get down. I was looking at the river, then mum said “how about we have some lunch” so that’s what we did.

After lunch Mum said that “why don’t we go to the Giant’s house?”  I said yes. So we went to the Giant’s house. We were looking around, It was amazing! It was mostly on a hill so it took a long time to get to the top of the hill to see the golden hands and the king and Queen. Most of these statues were made out of broken glass pebbles and plates and cups all broken into little pieces and lot’s of other things I bet. When I watched this clip about it I was amazed, she had turned her backyard all into this, and she also had made it all by herself!

After a long day, my mum said “let’s go back home”. We hopped in the car and drived back. I asked mum if I could have a ice cream so we stopped at a little shop and i got to choose a ice cream. I chose a cookie and cream ice cream trumpet with chocolate on top. On the way back I was watching the Ipad on the way back.

When I got home I was exhausted, I thought it was Exciting and fun, I had a great time and I thought that it was worth going to.
