The Tiger In The Well (It's nothing about tigers)

Hey Bloggers!

Welcome back to my blog!

Today I will be making a new book cover!
This is for a book called 'The Tiger In The Well' It is a Sally Lockhart Mystery by Philip Pullman.

I've already read it, and it's not really about tigers.
It does mention it though.

It's about a girl who's called Sally, who is desperately protecting her 2 year-old child, from a secret enemy who seems to know everything about her. As she runs from home, her life slowly falls apart.

I spent some time using google drawings to create this and it was quite fun, so I suggest for you to try creating something yourself!

Have you read the book before?
Have you heard of it?
And what do you think of my book cover?
Here is my book cover!

Enjoy!

  1. Kia ora Mia,

Great blog post! I love your google drawing book cover. The use of colour makes it really compelling and your description makes me want to read it. From the clothes it makes me think it is set in the past. Would I be right?

    Ka pai,

    1. Hi Mrs Spragg! It's so nice to see you again, Nikita's been telling me that you have been leaving comments. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment on my blog (and others). Yes, it's set in the past, about at the start of World War 2. I suggest reading it, although, this isn't the first book, it is a quartet. What have you been up to lately Mrs Spragg?

      Thanks so much!

    2. Kia ora Mia,

I have been reading and leaving comments. I enjoy seeing what you are all up too.

The book does sound interesting. What is the first book in the series called?

As for me, I've been busy working in lots of different classes teaching about being cybersmart. I'm pretty sure you would know lots of the things that I'm teaching already.

      Thanks for replying,

    3. Hi Mrs Spragg.
Thanks for replying! The first book is called 'The Ruby In The Smoke' then 'The Shadow In The North' and then after that it's 'The Tiger In The Well' The last book is called 'The Tin Princess'. Unfortunately, I started with 'The Tiger In The Well' so, I haven't read the first books yet. Have you done that before? picked up a book and then you find out it's like the last book in a series?

      Thanks again!

    4. Hi Mia,

What great book names!!! They sound so interesting.

Yes, I have done that before ... and I find it really frustrating. I always like reading books in order. I usually try and work out what order a book goes in and I usually put it back if it is out of order. I'm a bit fussy like that lol. The only exception would be books that have piles and piles, such as Nancy Drew or for adults, Miss Fisher's Murder Mystery's. They don't matter so much as they tend to be stand alone.

Keep up the great reading. Are you planning on reading the others in the series?
      :) Mrs Spragg

    5. Hi Mrs Spragg! Thanks for replying. Yes, it is very frustrating, I remember picking up a book and realising it was the last book in like a series of 5. Yes, that's true, some books are like recounted stories of the same character but have nothing to do with any of the other books. Yes, i'm thinking of getting the other books out from the library, I might read the last book then rewind back to the first and second book, but i'll think about it.
Sometimes I start reading the series, then I stop because I couldn't borrow it from the library and then I start reading another book, that just happens to be a series as well! So I end up having quite a few 'Unfinished' series.
      Do you have unfinished series?

      Thanks again!
      Mia
