Rounding out the decimals

Hey Bloggers!

Welcome back to my blog!

Today I will be talking to about rounding numbers!
Decimals to be exact.

This is a DLO consisting of pretty much 2 instructions :)

Remember them both and then you will be a master at rounding.

I found most tricky about decimal numbers is when you had to round from the decimal number to whole numbers, which are a little confusing, but the same anyways.

Did this help you to round decimals?
If no, then how could I improve?

Enjoy!

Maths is hard... untill you find out about rules!

Hey Bloggers!

Welcome back to my blog!

Today I will be teaching you about divisibility rules up to 10.

These are rules in maths for dividing numbers by certain numbers, each number up to ten has a particular rule to find out whether the entire number can be divisible by that number.

At first I found it a little bit challenging but once you understand how it works,
it will be really easy to do.

Does this help with your division?

Enjoy!

I didn't know that the Sydney Opera House was this small...

Hey Bloggers!

Welcome back to my blog!

For the past few days we have been doing some projects on Math Week.
Some of these activities included making structures,
building a playground,
building a bridge,

and making the Sydney Opera House!

No, just joking!
Making the Sydney Opera House wasn't part of the project,

Although we kind-of did...

Anyways,

Me and my friend Mika, did a math structure that didn't move, there was another separate activity if you wanted to make a dynamic (moving) structure, we just stuck to the still one.

What do you think of our city?
do you think it's creative?
have you done something similar?

Well then,
Most of the information is in the drawing!

Soooooo!
ENJOY!

(If it's hard to read the text, it's written down below the drawing)

How did we make it?

We decided that it would be pretty cool
if we made some springs and folded
up pieces of paper, stick it in an
interesting way, and look at it like
buildings. We also made Cubes and
other 3D shapes to use as like decorations
or buildings. After, we scribbled (that was
mostly me) on some color with pens
and look what we made!

Being a photographer! at least trying...

We took quite a few
photos, Mika was pretending
to be one of those professional
photographers, taking photos
from all angles.
The most challenging thing doing
this was making the 3D shapes,

What is it? it's the Sydney Opera House!

In the process
of making our city
we tried to go for an
abstract style, going
for a unique shaped
building. It ended
up kind-of looking
like the Sydney Opera
House! :)
they took a LOOOONG time to
make. I think I had lot's of fun
doing this project
and I am sure that MIka did too.

Negative number RULES (there's such a thing? Yes!)

Hey bloggers

Welcome back to my blog.

Today I have made a blog post about a DLO on some of my maths work.
This is about Negative numbers, and everyone gets confused about negative numbers.

Untill...

now...

This explains the secret behind multiplication on negative numbers.

Enjoy!

Hey everyone! It's Fri-yay!!! Learn about the Myriagon!

Hi Bloggers!

Welcome back to my blog!

It is going to be a fun blog post because...

We are talking about maths! (It's not boring!!)

Pretty much, we had to pack in six circles the same size in a polygon.

A polygon is a shape that has no curves and it a closed shape, so it can't be just a line :).

Enjoy!!

Biteable can teach you Maths????!!!

Hey bloggers!!

Welcome back to my blog!

In Rimu some of us have been learning about box and whisker plots.
Here is a Bitable to give you some information about box and whisker plots, I also hope that you learn something!.

If the video is too fast, or something goes wrong, I have all the details written down below.

Enjoy!

Box and whisker plots!
We have been learning how to write them!
And how to read them
We can show different data on box and whisker plots
We had to use our knowledge on mean, mode and median.
They look like this
Firstly you must find the median, lower and upper quartiles.

Then pop them into your graph!
Did you learn something?!

How to Find The Area Of a Circle

Hello bloggers!

This week in Maths our group has been doing Geometry and measurement.
One of the questions is how to find a area of a circle.

I have made a drawing to show you how to find out what the area of the circle is.

Enjoy!

How do I read Stem and Leaf Graphs?

Hello everybody!

This week in Rimu we have been working on statistics work since we had a Maths test this week.
I was wondering, how do I read Stem and Leaf graphs? After a while I realized Stem and Leaf Graphs aren't that hard to read. Since I have learnt I am going to share it with you!

Here is my Drawing that I made

If that was confusing then I will tell you right here.

On the left were it says Stem you can see the number 2, and on the right side were it says Leaf you can see the number 5.

now 5 is in the ones column, and 2 is in the tens column, so that means it is twenty (from the Stem) five (from the Leaf) and that requires to all the numbers.

Using RUCSAC

Hello bloggers!
It's Mia here and today I am going to teach how to do worded problems using the mnemonic RUCSAC.
This drawing will tell you what it stands for and we will work through one together!

Lets do a problem together,

Bob has 100 yellow candies, 250 green candies, and 300 blue candies. He is going to share them with his two friends and himself. How many candies will each of them get?

Well we've read the problem, now we have to Understand it.

Bob has 100 yellow candies, 250 green candies, and 300 blue candies. He is going to share them with his two friends and himself. How many candies will each of them get?

The highlighted parts are most likely to be the important parts, when looking for these look for the numbers, and the end part were it says what he's going to do. Now we have to choose what method we are going to use.

Well firstly we have to add all the the candies together, 100 + 100 + 100 = 300 candies in total. Now we have to divide it by 3 because there are three of them. Then that would be 100, so that means that they get 100 candies each. To check the answer we have to do the opposite so instead of dividing we have to times and instead of plus we have to minus. So that means we have to times 100 by 3 which would be 300, then we will have to divide it by three then that would be 100, and that's the right answer.

Although the question was pretty easy I hope you understand how to use RUCSAC.

This weeks Maths: 4 Operations

This week on Maths we worked on the slide 4 operations that our teacher set for us to work on throughout the week. I found tricky some of the alegraba but I only was able to get up to yellow squares so it wasn't too hard. This drawing will show you how to do some of the questions that we did on the slide.
 Enjoy!

Maths this week: Measurements

Hello! This is my work for this week's math, we are learning about measurements I didn't put all the questions in but her are some, these questions were not too hard but this is how I figured it out.

I found hard when doing the angles of obtuse and finding out what the angle is.

My Maths investigation! I have a challenge for you to attempt!

Hello there bloggers! I have published my maths investigation, for this week. I found this tricky because finding out which thing it was. The question was....
Some octopuses, fish and a few mermaids are in a rock pool.
Altogether there are 42 arms, 28 eyes and 10 tails in the pool.
How many mermaids are there?

Octopus: 8 arms, 2 eyes, no tails. Fish: 2 eyes, 1 tail, no arms Mermaid:
1 tail, two eyes, 2 arms
How many arms altogether? 8+2=10, 10x (what) = 38
that would be 3 so that means 3 octopus and 3 mermaids.
There is still 8 left that would add up to one octopus. So 4 octopus and 3 mermaids.
How many eyes? 2x3=6   6x(what)=24 it would be four,
so there would be 4 fish,
How many tails? 1+1=2 2 x (what) = 8 that would be four,
2 of each things that have tails. 2 mermaids and 2 fish.

Mermaid 3+2=5  Octopus: 4 Fish: 4+2=6

I have also a question for the viewers!

there are Fishes, dolphins, and octopuses,
There are 24 eyes and 10 tails, there are also 40 arms how many of each animals is there each?
you can leave your answer along with your comment! The people who got it right I will put your name in my next blog post, plus the answer.

Maths how to: Adding fractions

This week in Rimu we had to make a DLO about adding fractions in my Maths group. I found these questions hard, but once I got the hang of it it was pretty easy.
