Activity 1: Rugby Superstars

Hey Bloggers!

Welcome back to my blog.

This is another Summer Learning Journey post, basically, the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) is a thing that happens through the Summer holidays, and helps to make sure your learning standards stay where they are instead of going down and then coming back to school in the same place you started!

Anyways, the Summer Learning Journey site says to...

For this activity, let’s imagine that you could be a superhero for a day. What three superpowers would you most like to have?
On your blog, please list the three superpowers, tell us why you have chosen each one, and tell us what you are going to do with them.
If you had any of the powers that I have chosen, what would you do with it?
Enjoy!

  1. Hi there Mia, Its Abby again. I see that you took my feedback into consideration.

I really like how you chose to show this and gave clear reasons why you wanted those super powers. For my first one I would want... Invisibility, think of all the sneaky things you could do. If someone could be invisible they would be a great spy/detective.

When I was younger there was a avatar series on TV and I half watched it so I only watched about half the episodes and would try to get up earlier to make sure I don't miss it. My second power would have to be, teleporting because then you wouldn't be late getting to anything.

Next time the only thing that you could improve on is to say what you used, because I want to try and use that website. For my third power it would be telekinesis so I could move things with my mind.

Answering your other question, I would want to slow time so I could have more time to do new things.

What power out of your three would you want the most?

    Kind regards,
    Abby.

    1. Hi Abby! It's Mia here. Firstly, thanks for commenting on my blog, you are very kind and you have answered my questions thoroughly. I think that I would have air bending, because it lets me have a lot more abilities than just one, like speed and flying, as you may have read in my post. Do you think that if we slowed time like, forever, would you age and then no one else would as quickly?

      Thanks again!
      Mia

    2. Hi Mia, It's Abby. Thank you for replying to my comment. Air bending would be a cool power to do, you could fly. I think that if we slowed time forever you would get stuck in the past while ageing so that wouldn't be great. You still didn't answer my question...
What did you use to make your presentation?

      Kind regards,
      Abby.

    3. Hi Abby! It's me, Mia. Thanks for replying. Oops! Sorry, I used a website called Prezi, you might have seen Mika using it. We al thought you couldn't get it and that you had to pay for it, but I found out that when you swipe to the left you can find the basic program that is free! Do you think you can get unstuck from the past?

      Thanks!
      Mia

  2. Kia Ora Mia.
    Its Grace,
I see you decided to the SLJ.
I have too as you can tell.

I really liked this blog post because it was very creative and fun, and you explained why you would have them very well.

From your question in there I would want to have, teleportation, be able to fly and like what you said slow time.

The other question what one I would want out of yours I would want to slow time.

To improve I would only say maybe the website so other people could use it.

But like you asked us I will ask you what one would you want the most out of your three?

    Kind regards
    - Grace

    1. Hi Grace! It's Mia here, coming to reply to your comment. Thanks for commenting! I really liked your advice and caring words. I would choose air bending, as I said in Abby's reply, because there is more than one ability to air bending, like speed and flying.
What would you do if you could slow time?

      Thanks!
      Mia

  3. Hello again Mia!
It's Nadia here to comment on another one of your amazing posts!
Wow! This is so great, I can see how you've taken on people's feedback and have used it to make your posts better each time. You have used colours that work together which was my feedback for last time. I see you've also used the feedback given by other people to include what the SLJ actually is so readers can understand. This Prezi was really nice, you used cool transitions. Next time do you think you could include more images or even maybe videos? Make sure you credit where the photos or videos come from. I think that once you include more images, the Prezi will be more interesting. Well done.
What has been your favourite activity from the SLJ? Why is it your favourite?

You have done such a great job and I hope to see some more replies and comments from you. Congratulations on another excellent post! I can't wait to read more.
    Keep up the amazing work
    - Nadia :)

    1. Hello Nadia! As you know, my name is Mia, and I have come to reply to your amazing comment! Thank you for the comment. Hmm, I'm not sure yet because I haven't seen many of them, but I quite liked this activity, it made me think of the impossible! Now that I come to think of it, is everything possible? or do they just say things are impossible because it might take a lot of effort, or because no one has tried it before and never gotten close to doing it?

      Thanks for the comment!
      Mia

    2. Hi Mia!
Thank you for the reply! Yes, there are many more blogging tasks for you to do over the summer, have you come across any activities that you really love?
That is a very good question, yes I do think that the possibility of completing a task really depends on how much effort one puts into completing the task. If they do not strive to complete it, then the chance that they will complete it decreases. Most people rely on the work of others to determine if something is impossible, if someone else hasn't been able to do it before, they think that it is simply impossible so they don't even try.

      Wonderful work Mia,
Can't wait to see a reply from you!

    3. Hi Nadia! It's Mia here. Thanks for the reply! I really love the activity 'Nanogirl' because it had to do with tiny houses! I really love tiny houses, especially because there are so many inventions in there, like fold out tables and interesting shaped houses.

Yea! I agree with you, anything is possible if you give it a try, and if you are passionate to achieve that goal! Is there anything 'impossible' that you want to achieve? I want to figure out some of the mysteries of space!

      Thanks!
      Mia

    4. Hello again Mia!
Yes I agree, tiny houses are full of amazing gadgets and compartments that are very clever and cool. They are quite compact and can sometimes be towed around my cars.

At the moment, there isn't really anything impossible I want to achieve, I haven't really thought about it.
Space is something that we will never really know everything about, even 100 years from now, but it is amazing when we find out new things about it everyday. What types of things in space are you interested in?

      Thanks!
      - Nadia :)

    5. Hi Again Nadia! It's Mia again! Thanks for replying! Yes, space really seems to be a mystery itself! nothing in space is easy to figure out. I am mostly interested in the big bang, but I also like reading and researching about the solar system, as well as thinking about what is outside the solar system.

I am currently reading a book called 'A brief history of time' by Stephen Hawking, have you heard of Stephen Hawking or the book itself? It's a pretty complex book that I got as a present.

      Thanks again!
      Mia

    6. Hi Mia!
Wow, thats so cool that you are interested in those things. I am particularly interested in the planet Neptune.
How old are you Mia? That sounds like a very complicated book, I think some of my friends have read it. I like science, not so much astronomy but more chemistry and bio science.

    7. Hi Nadia! Thanks for the reply. Neptune is a pretty cool planet, it's meant to be really stormy there. Just to be cybersmart, I am going to be a year 8 this year (2020), that book is really tricky, but the person that gave it to me thought I could handle it, and I think I can, with some help from google perhaps. I was thinking of atomic structures and those types of things, but I think I like astronomy the best. What are your future plans?

      Thanks again!
      Mia

    8. Hi Mia!
Indeed, Neptune is an amazing planet, incredibly cold. Great job on staying Cybersmart! Year 8! Wow, you are doing amazing work for a year 8, I don't think I did that well in year 8.
A website that might really help you is Sparknotes.com, I sometimes use it to understand the books and Shakespearean scripts I read at school. Wow atomic structures are really cool, neutrons and electrons are really fascinating. My future plans are to study either business marketing or business management.

      Hows the book going?

Great job on replying to comments Mia, each response gets you more points.
      Until next time

    9. HI Nadia! It's Mia here again! Thanks so much for the kind words. Business is a big world! And is such a big step too, there are so many opportunities and jobs that have to do with it. The ones that you said seem really complicated, I've never really dug into business much so I might do some research! What got you interested in business?

Anyway, I'm right now in chapter 4 in my book, which is called 'The Uncertainty Principle' I'm kind of feeling uncertain myself! I haven't really gotten into the details of what the 'Uncertainty Principle' is but it talks about how some people thought that there must be a principles/theories that explains pretty much everything that would happen in the universe!

Drive your passion forwards and keep on dreaming!
      Thanks again!
      Mia

    10. You are so welcome Mia!
Indeed, business is huge, there are many jobs that cater to that career option. I had Business class as one of my subjects in year 10 so since then I have found a passion for business development.

Keep soldiering on with that book Mia! Even if you do more research into it after you've read each chapter might help you understand what it all means. Many theoretical Physicists main job is to look into theories, whether it is about our planets or universes. Personally, I don't think theres specifically one reason as to why everything would happen in the universe. I feel like theres more than one reason. What do you think?
What chapter are you up to now?

We are all capable of amazing things, it just takes time and effort.
Keep up the amazing work, maybe once you've read the book, you could look into doing a couple blog posts about what you have learnt? I would find that really fascinating!

      Bye Mia
      Until next time
      - Nadia :)

    11. Hi Nadia! Great to see you again! Yes, I agree with you there's probably a number of reasons why specific things happened or are happening in the universe. I also think that it will be pretty hard to predict what would happen soon, don't you think?

I'm still on the same chapter since the chapters are quite long. I am about a 3rd of my way through the book. Good idea! I'll think about doing some blog posts if or when I finish the book.

      Thanks again!
      Mia

    12. Hello again!!!
Yes, our Earth can be very unpredictable at times, although scientist have got some things figured, I don't think everything in the universe is meant to be discovered and should remain a mystery.

I'll be sure to read the posts once you do them, I am interested to hear about your thoughts. A book review would be cool to do. What part of the book have you found the most interesting?

      Nice job Mia,
Keep on commenting on other peoples posts as that gives you more points!
Can't wait to see your reply

    13. Hi Nadia! It's Mia here again. I think so far, I have found the chapter that I just started quiet interesting, it's about some of the natural forces. It talks about the four elements and how gravity and levity (which I think means like levitation) build up our world. Now that I come to think of it, i may not be able to do posts that aren't related to school work (or Learning Journey).

      Thanks again!
      Mia

    14. Wow Mia! That sounds so cool, I must take a look at that book once I get back to school. Yes, Levity is used as a scientific term that basically means like gravity but backwards, so yes, levitation.
I'm sure if the post is about your learning, you should be okay. Just be sure to ask your teacher if it is okay first!
I hope you have been enjoying your holidays. You mentioned in one of your posts I commented on that you're in Japan, have you arrived home yet? What is your favourite thing to do in Japan?
      Thanks
      - Nadia

    15. Hi Nadia! Thanks again for replying. No, I am still in Japan! I'm not meant to be due home untill school starts. Hmmm! There are so many things I love doing in Japan, a few of these are going to aquariums and going around on trains. I also love going to the sushi train! Have you been on a plane before?

      Thanks again!

  4. Hello Mia, its me Parwin! I see you are also doing the SLJ, the challenge is on!

I really liked your Prezi that you did as it was creative and it also explained why you wanted that power and you gave some examples of what you could do if you did have that power. It is also great to see that you are icluding a lot of information in your blog itself.

This reminds me of when I did this and my only power that was closest to yours was slowing time, except I could stop time and evreryone, apart from myself.

I think that you did an awesome job and I can't think of anything for you to improve on at the moment but if you have anything in mind that would make your blog post even better, then go for it!

    Awesome work!

Looking forward to your next posts,
    Parwin

    1. Hi Parwin! It's me Mia! I want to give a great big thanks for commenting on my blog. You didn't ask a question (oops) but I will ask you one! If you stopped time, would it affect your future? because you could get older and older, but no one else would.

      Thanks again!
