ReplyDeleteMy name is Mikey and I will be commenting on your Summer Learning Journey posts this year. I am excited to get to know you and read all of your wonderful blog posts.
Your first post looks great! I love the colours and images you've used.
I've never been to Christchurch myself but you make it sound like a lovely place. What is your favourite thing to do there? I come from a small coastal town in the north of the North Island where there are lots of old buildings too. No flash new office buildings though - I have to travel all the way to Auckland to see those.
You've included some really important messages in your 'digital footprint', Mia. I'm glad to see that you know how to be cyber smart.
I look forward to reading more of your colourful posts :)
Wow! Thank you so much for the lovely comment. I really enjoyed making these two drawings. One of my favorites is going to the Margaret Mayhew park after my trumpet lessons. It's such a big playground with lot's of big slides and different contraptions. There is also the new library that includes lot's of robotics and digital screens, my favorite thing to do there is to browse and read lots of books! What is one of your most favorite place that you have been to?
DeleteI'm very happy that you like my post!
Mia
You're welcome, Mia. I can tell you put a lot of effort into this post. I'm very impressed :)
DeleteTrumpet lessons? Wow! How long have you been learning? Do you play any other instruments? I would love to be able to play the guitar but... well, let's just say, music is not one of my strong points. The park and library sound like wonderful places to spend your free time! What are your favourite books to read? I've got a great book at the moment, the trouble is finding time to actually read it! :(
Hmm... Cambodia would have to be one my favourite places that I've travelled to. It's SO beautiful! And the people are lovely and friendly, and the food is delicious! What's one of your favourite places?
Talk soon.
Mikey
One of my personal favorites would always going back home to Japan to meet up with some of my grandparents and uncles, I adore the food there, and all the different sort of trains. I have been playing trumpet for nearly three years now, and I also play the Piano, I can also play the recorder, cornet, and I can also play some of the trombone. My favorite book series (that I am currently reading) is called Infinity ring it is a book about three kids time traveling to fix breaks to save the world. It's pretty interesting with lot's of history and puzzles that they solve.
DeleteYou are just too kind!

Mōrena Mia!
DeleteYou're from Japan? How wonderful! Do you go back often? I'm hoping to go there at the end of next year for the Rugby World Cup. Is there any 'must-do' activities that you'd recommend? I love Japanese food too! What's your absolute favourite?
Wow, five instruments?! That's amazing, Mia! You must be very good. Which one is your favourite to play?
That does sound interesting - it must be hard to put it down once you've started reading. I'm actually looking for a book to buy my niece for Christmas (her name's Mia too!) Would you recommend the Infinity Ring series?
Blog ya later! :)
Mikey
I go back about every 2 to 3 years, I would probably recommend going on one of the bullet trains in Japan, they have quite a few. The aquariums are really big there there is one called "Toba" which is a really big one that I like. My favorite place to go for food is to a Sushi Train! I absolutely love going there. My favorite instrument to play is the trumpet, when I 6 years old I started to say to mum that I wanted to play. So when I was about 8 they got me one and got a teacher, and I started to play. The Infinity ring series is probably for about roughly about year 5 or year 4 and up because it does seem to have some violence in it. Although it is a really interesting book, and I have been searching libraries for it. What kind of books does your niece (if you know) like to read, because I've got some of other books up my sleeve.
DeleteSee you soon!
Mia
Hi Mia!
DeleteWow! It's great that you're able to go back so often. Do you have lots of family and friends there? The aquarium sounds like a great place to visit. There's a restaurant near my hometown that has an aquarium passing through the middle of it - it's beautiful! I imagine it isn't anywhere near the size of the one you've been to though. Have you travelled to any other countries?
All the best,
Mikey
Hi Mikey!
DeleteI have lot's of friends there, and I have a lot of great aunts and aunties and uncles too. I have travelled to Australia but that's pretty much it, but I have gone many other towns and cities though, like for example, I have been to Tokyo and Osaka. I am going to be going to Sydney soon in January. What are some places that you have been to?
Bye-bye!
Mia
Kia ora Mia!
DeleteIt sounds like you've done quite a bit of travelling. What was your favourite place? I've been to Australia too. I actually used to live there. I've travelled around South East Asia as well, and Bail. And most recently I went to Samoa and Fiji. I don't know if you can tell, but I like to visit warm places :)
I saw that you've been leaving some really thoughtful comments on other Summer Learning Journey bloggers' posts too. That's so great to see Mia! Thank you for connecting with so many other learners :)
Merry Christmas!
All the best,
Mikey :)
Hi Mikey!
DeleteI can definitely say that I go on a airplane or a long trip on a car maybe about twice a year and on a airplane once a year. My favorite place was when I went to Melbourne, it was quite different than walking Christchurch because Christchurch is flat! I really liked riding on the trains then and their aquarium was pretty good. Although the only thing I remember about the hotel is the big beds, since it was four years ago :D.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Mia
Hey there Mia, its me Parwin!
ReplyDeleteI love how you presented your activities because they are all colourful and bright and to be honest, I am surprised that you have remembered because when I was looking through the Rimu website, I didn't see anyone post anything about the Summer Learning Journey. Its kind of funny because half of the class put their hand up and said that they are going to do it but I don't see many people doing the summer learning journey. Your blog post is amazing! What is your favorite place to go? Mine is the new library because has been designed very unique and has lot''s of things!
Looking forward to your next blog posts,
Parwin
Hi Parwin! Nice to see you keeping up with blogging >u<. I definitely say that the new library is one of my favorites. I also think that the margaret mahy park is too. Are you doing the summer learning journey too?
