Hello bloggers!
Today I am back with a new post!
What about we go swimming in some rivers today!
But make sure that the rivers aren't polluted
here is two rivers (does it count as a stream?) that has been polluted in New Zealand.
Enjoy!
River/streams name : Karamu stream
Location : Karamu, Hawke's bay
What are doing to help/ reduce the pollution? : LAWA (Land Air Water Aotearoa) are testing the water of the rivers to help with the pollution.
River/streams name : Heathcote river
Location : Christchurch
What are doing to help/ reduce the pollution? : They are thinking, instead of putting the sewage in rivers they can hold them in tanks for a while, when the system died down they can treat it and put in back in again.
Kia ora Mia,
ReplyDeleteWell done on another fabulous Summer Learning Journey post, I hope you are enjoying doing them!
It's a bit sad that some of our beautiful rivers in New Zealand are now polluted however it's great to see that plans are being put in place to clean them up so they are safe for us to swim in once again.
Do you have any ideas of ways maybe you and your friends at school could help to clean up our rivers? When I was at primary school, sometimes myself and some other students would go down to our local river and pick up rubbish with the supervision of some great teachers.
Until next time, happy blogging :)
Hi Emma!
DeleteMy ideas for cleaning a river, might be an option to ask the teachers whether we can actually do a inquiry about rivers and pollution. After that we can all do action learning on it, Me and my friend Mika, we did action learning (for the pollution inquiry when it was term 4) on a website talking about Fossil Fuels and Nuclear waste.
Thank you!
Mia
Hi Mia,
DeleteThat sounds like a great idea or you could even go to the lake that you went paddle boarding at and maybe do it there seeing as you guys have been there before.
Can you tell me some more about action learning? It sounds really interesting.
Emma :)
