SLJ - Your Comments Count... up to points! :D

Hey Bloggers!

Welcome back to my blog.

Yipee! It's the summer holidays and you know what that means! It's time to do some activities for the Summer Learning Journey - the SLJ.

For those who don't know, the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) is a set of activities during the the holidays that you can complete to earn points. You can also earn points by commenting! If you can get enough points then you can be up to win some spectacular prizes!

Today's activity for the SLJ is called Your Comments Count, you can find the activities here on the SLJ Blog. It says to write a comment on a blog and describe why it's a quality comment.

Now I had a little bit of a problem.

I wrote a comment and published it to the blog like any other person. But then! I had to wait for an approval to be able to see my comment on their blog. So I'm not really sure whether this counts...

So since I can't really take a screenshot, I can show you the comment that I wrote.

Do you write comments?
What do you think it good about commenting?
Do you enjoy it? Why?

Enjoy!

  1. Kia Ora Mia,

My name is Shannon, and I’m from the Summer Learning Journey.

It absolutely does count, you’ve written a quality comment that I’m super impressed by! Not only is it positive, thoughtful, and helpful, but you’ve engaged the author with a question, and made your post super colourful! It looks phenomenal and is super clear to follow!

I comment on a lot of blog posts and I follow a very similar structure! My favourite part of commenting is asking questions, just like you have! What are some cool questions you could ask about people’s blogs?

Because your post is so amazing, I’m marking it down as an exceptional post which will get you some bonus points in the SLJ! Keep up the great work and happy blogging!

    Ka kite anō,
    Shannon (SLJ)

    1. Hi Shannon! Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed my blog. Some cool questions I like to ask usually relate to my thoughtful so they can think about what I've said. Sometimes, I ask questions about their opinion on an idea I might have shared or asked for more information about the blog. What kind of questions do you think make people think?

      Thanks again!

    2. Kia Ora again Mia,

Thank you for your response! I agree, questions are definitely thoughtful and help engage conversations!

I normally like to ask fun questions that have interesting answers and make people think. Kind of like what is your favourite animal and why? Mine is a giraffe because I think they’re beautiful and so tall! I can’t even imagine what it must be like to be able to see over the trees all the time! I always try to relate them back to the blog post, but sometimes people’s posts make me think of very random things and I like to ask questions relating to these thoughts!

I see you even have other people commenting on your posts too! Well done!

      Happy blogging.

      Ka kite anō,
      Shannon (SLJ)

    3. Hello again Shannon! Thanks for replying. That's a hard question! But I think my top two would be a bird, usually birds like falcons or eagles because they look so proud and their wings are fun to draw. My second would be a deer, I love the antlers since they vary in sizes and shapes.

      Thanks again!

  2. Hello Mia, It's me, Amelia from Yaldhurst Model School!

I liked the way you had a lot of colours that made it stand out and it was also easier to tell where parts of your comment are. I also liked how you explained the Summer Learning Journey.

I have done this blog as well and I also thought about if mine what quality or not. I think mine was pretty quality though!

I'm not sure what you could do to improve, so just keep up the quality work!

What was your favourite part of your post?
Why did you decide to have rainbow colours?

    Cya later, keep it up!

    2. Hi Amelia, nice to see you. Thanks for commenting on my blog. I think my favorite part of doing this post was designing the layout, that's always a highlight for me since I love art.

I didn't really decide to have rainbow colours, I just kind of popped in some bright colours that were different from one another.

      Thanks a lot!

  3. Kia ora Mia, this is a very helpful post and an excellent example for others who are learning to write quality comments online. I am particularly impressed with how you problem solved this activity and shared your solution on your blog.

The colour coding is also very effective, making clear links to your commenting criteria. I would like to share this post on the Manaiakalani Cybersmart site on our Smart Relationships section to help others, if that's OK with you?

    ngā mihi nui,
    Mrs Grant
